10 Wild And Wacky Liquor Laws In USA Liquor-600x398Since its founding, America has had a love affair with alcohol, and there have been liquor laws on the books since its inception. In certain states out dated and archaic liquor laws, or “blue laws” as they are called, still remain on the books. Here are 10 states with some of the weirdest, craziest, most nonsensical blue laws on the books.1) Oklahoma – In the great OK state it is illegal to sell alcohol that is chilled. No liquor store can refrigerate their brews. The logic behind it makes sense – if it’s not cold people will wait to drink it and go home first… but we know that isn’t stop those who are truly thirsty.2) South Carolina – In S.C. it is illegal to sell liquor on election day… there are so many things wrong with this restriction of freedom that we aren’t even going to begin to go into it.

3) Alabama – In Alabama no label for wine can be considered “immodest or sensuous”
which led to the ban of Cycles Gladiator cabernet sauvignon… it has a naked pixie on it.4) Florida – During a Hurricane the Sunshine State reserves the right to restrict the sale of alcohol… so if you have problems prioritizing between the safety of your life in regards to an approaching hurricane and your B.A.C., Florida has got your back.5) Alaska – In the land of Palin you can’t buy alcohol between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. – So we guess a tequila sunrise with the Mama Grizzly is out of the question?6) Georgia – There is no law in Georgia that prohibits drinking in public, you can drink to your heart’s content on the streets of Macon and everything is by the books, but the second you become intoxicated – you are breaking the law. That’s right! It’s legal to drink in public but it is illegal to be drunk, now that is a paradox.7) Iowa – whenever your friends walk into the bar it’s always nice to tell the bartender, “Hey put them on my tab”… well not in Iowa. It is Illegal to have a running tab at a bar in the Hawkeye State, probably because too many people were running from their tabs.

Cool Massachusetts – After a long day at the office it feels great to unwind during happy hour, but not in Mass.
The state has outlawed happy hour… it’s surprising that the home of Sam Adams and the Boston Tea Party doesn’t allow half-price suds.

9) Nevada – One town in the Silver State, Nyala, frowns on people being overly generous.
If you get some good news and try and buy a round for everyone at the bar, you are breaking the law. That’s because in Nyala it is illegal to buy drinks for more than three people other than yourself at any given time.10) Indiana – In Indiana it is illegal for a bartender to give you a drink on the house, something tells us someone who owned a bar had something to do with this law being put into motion. Indiana has a few more weird ones too, like it is illegal for a liquor store to sell chilled non-alcoholic beverages. WHY?? Inside a bar in Indiana you cannot drink your beer out of a bottle, it must be served in glass, I’m guessing people in Indiana like to act out scenes from Road House in real life.
