It's exciting and wonderful to be finally pregnant! The only thing is, you are a smoker and you've heard all the terrible stories about how smoking can affect your baby. That is why you are here to look for tips to quit smoking for pregnant women.

Truth is, smoking harms the baby's development in your womb. This is because, smoking cuts down the amount of oxygen in your body and fills them up with poisonous carbon monoxide thus, increasing the likelihood of the baby being born retarded... and in the worse case scenario, death.

1) Reasons To Stop Smoking - This is one of the keys to help you quit your tobacco addiction. Your reasons are your motivation that will propel and strengthen your determination and mind further than you can imagine.

One of the strongest reasons to quitting smoking, is the health of your baby.

So, grab a piece of paper and list down all the reasons to quit smoking... be it for your health, your baby's health, or even for financial reasons.

2) Make Your Reasons Visible - Writing down your reasons gives a written commitment and thought process about why you need to quit smoking. This will psychologically prepare you for the challenge ahead and make you understand the benefits that you'll gain from quitting smoking.

The second step is to make a few copies of that piece of note and place them at places that you like to hang out when smoking. For example, your balcony, sofa etc

By doing this, you are actually reminding yourself about the reasons whenever you feel like smoking. Because the reasons are there as a reminder, it will boost you up psychological and help you skip that stick of cigarette.

3) Water, Water, Water - One of the reasons for smoking is to relief stress(although this is a myth). In order to prevent stress and control your urge of smoking, one of the ways is to drink water.

Yes, clear, plain water.

Water helps to prevent stress, freshen your mind and also helps to get rid of the toxins in your body. When you are no longer stressful and has already been freshen up, you will then be able to control your smoking urge, thus preventing you from lighting a cigarette.

Overtime, as your body get more used to living without cigarettes, you will be able to quit smoking for good and at the same time, drastically increase your chance of having a healthy and beautiful baby.
